Membership Terms & Cancellation

These terms apply to TrueLocal Verified Members — anyone who purchases a paid subscription. They sit alongside our general Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
1. What you get
- Verified badge on your profile and every listing.
- Priority placement in local search results.
- Boosted reliability score weighting.
- Auto-translated chat in 40+ languages.
- Access to member-only support.
2. Plans & pricing
- Monthly: £5.99 per month, billed every month. New customers get 1 month FREE — £0 charged, no card details required to start the trial. You only enter payment details if you choose to continue after the free month.
- Annual: £19.99 per year, billed once every 12 months (saves 72%). This plan is non-refundable — see Section 7.
3. No contract. No cancellation fee.
- Your membership is not a fixed-term contract.
- You can cancel at any time, for any reason, with a single tap.
- There is no cancellation fee and no exit penalty — ever.
- You'll never be locked in or asked to call to cancel.
4. Billing & renewal
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period using your saved payment method.
- You will receive an email reminder before any annual renewal.
- If a payment fails we will retry for up to 7 days, then suspend your verified benefits until payment succeeds.
- Cancelling stops all future charges immediately.
4. Free trial — Monthly plan only (new customers)
- New customers signing up for the Monthly plan get their first month completely free.
- £0 charged during the trial. No card details required to start.
- You must create a new account (sign up) to claim the free trial — one trial per person.
- The trial is not available on the Annual plan and not available to returning subscribers.
- At the end of the free month, your membership simply ends unless you choose to add a payment method and continue on the Monthly plan. You will never be charged automatically after the free trial without explicitly adding card details.
5. Cancellation — how to cancel
You can cancel your subscription at any time, with no fees:
- Open the app and go to Profile → Settings → Membership.
- Tap Cancel subscription and confirm.
- You'll receive an email confirmation within minutes.
6. What happens after you cancel
- Your Verified benefits stay active until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- At the end of that period your account reverts to a free account; your listings, chat history and reliability score are kept.
- No further payments will be taken.
- You can re-subscribe at any time and your verified badge returns immediately.
7. Annual plan — NON-REFUNDABLE
⚠️ Important: the Annual plan (£19.99/year) is strictly non-refundable.
- Once payment for the Annual plan has been taken, no refund will be issued — partial, pro-rata, or otherwise — for any reason, including unused months, change of mind, account closure, or non-use of benefits.
- By choosing the Annual plan and completing payment, you expressly waive the 14-day cooling-off right under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and EU Directive 2011/83/EU, as the discounted service begins immediately.
- You can still cancel auto-renewal at any time — your Verified benefits remain active until the end of the 12-month period you've paid for, and you will not be billed again.
- If you are unsure, choose the Monthly plan with the free trial instead.
8. Refunds — Monthly plan
- Free trial month: nothing to refund — you were never charged.
- Paid monthly periods: non-refundable once the billing period has started; simply cancel to stop future charges.
- Duplicate or clearly accidental charges are always refunded in full — email billing@truelocal.app.
9. Suspension or termination by us
We may suspend or end a paid membership without refund if you:
- Breach our Terms & Conditions (e.g. fraud, harassment, prohibited items, fake identity).
- Issue a chargeback without first contacting our billing team.
- Use the Verified badge to deceive other members.
10. Changes to membership benefits
We may add, remove or modify member benefits. Material reductions will be announced at least 30 days in advance and you'll be offered a pro-rata refund if you choose to cancel as a result.
11. Payment processing
Payments are processed by our secure payment partner. TrueLocal does not store full card details. See our Privacy Policy for how billing data is handled.
12. Disputes & complaints
Please contact us first at billing@truelocal.app — we aim to respond within 2 working days. UK consumers may also use the government-backed Citizens Advice consumer service. EU consumers can use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
